Project Update: GREEN CHEFS – Learning Sustainability Through Play
The GREEN CHEFS project is steadily moving forward
24/09/2025
We are proud to share the latest progress on our participation in the European project GREEN CHEFS, dedicated to promoting sustainability and plant-based food education among young people.
As part of the project, an educational board game was developed for vocational secondary schools and high schools. The game introduces students to plant-based products such as lentils, chickpeas, and edamame beans, while showing how these foods impact the environment through their carbon footprint. It also encourages players to reflect on the everyday choices we all make that affect climate change, inspiring more responsible decision-making when it comes to food and proteins. To keep learning engaging, the game also includes recipes and fun facts that students can try out at home.
Pilot Testing in Sofia
In the past months, we completed the testing phase of the project. Our role was to organize pilot game sessions with 50 pupils. During these sessions, students gathered around the table, explored the game cards, and discovered new insights into sustainability while having fun. The atmosphere was lively and engaging, and our team captured photos of the process to support the dissemination stage of the project.
Progress So Far
So far, the project has achieved several important milestones. Multiple game tests were carried out with different age groups, allowing us to collect valuable feedback from participants. Based on these insights, the game materials have been finalized and prepared for wider use. At the same time, the translation phase has already begun, which will soon make the materials accessible to vocational schools across Europe. To further enrich the learning process, a set of sustainable recipes was created, and a collection of sustainability facts was carefully compiled and verified to provide students with accurate and engaging content.
The GREEN CHEFS project is steadily moving forward, and we are excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have on students and educators alike. By combining play with knowledge, we believe this project will help shape a generation that is more conscious about food, sustainability, and the environment.
