“Ladies (are) First” at the prestigious Restaurant of the Year 2023 ceremony

The top prize for “Restaurant of the Year” went to our friends at Cosmos

The glamorous Restaurant of the Year 2023 award ceremony of Bacchus Wine and Gourmet Culture magazine took place last week at the Hyatt Regency Sofia.

Some of the best Bulgarian restaurants measured their strength in eight categories: “Restaurant of the Year”, “Author’s Signature”, “Delicious Place”, “Debut”, “Wine and Drinks” and “Dessert”. The winner in the Readers’ Restaurant and Favorite Wine Bar categories was chosen by the public.

The event took place under the title “Ladies First” and emphasized the theme of female power in the kitchen – 5 female chefs (from the culinary association JRE) from 5 different countries united in the kitchen, removing any global and linguistic boundaries.

The top prize for “Restaurant of the Year” went to our friends at Cosmos; “Wine and Drinks” deservedly won Ahora; “Author’s Handwriting” went to JAZU; KOMAT was the restaurant that made and won “Debut”; “Delicious Place” went to Bar SOL; for “Readers’ Restaurant,” fans chose Fake French, and for “Favorite Wine Bar,” La Cave du Moulin.

The award in the “Dessert” category was presented by HRC Culinary Academy Director Yoana Mileva to Vanya Ivanova – the owner of the Vanilla Kitchen healthy confectionery atelier.

In the preparation of the big event, attended by 255 guests, our student Kristiana Stefanova from the Culinary Arts program actively participated and will now have the opportunity to do her final internship at the Spanish restaurant Azafrán under Chef Teresa Gutierrez – one of the five lady chefs who prepared the gala dinner. Kristiana is one of the most accomplished students in her class, and her first internship was at Under, Norway – a restaurant with one Michelin star, submerged 5.5 meters below sea level.
