HRC Culinary Academy Joins Worldchefs’ Global “Word of the Moment” Initiative

08/06/2026

Recently, HRC Culinary Academy was invited to participate in Worldchefs’ “Word of the Moment” initiative, published as part of Issue 32 of Worldchefs Magazine. The project brought together culinary associations, education partners, and industry leaders from around the world, inviting them to reflect on a simple question: which words best represent your values and priorities today. The responses formed a global snapshot of how the profession sees itself in a moment of change, with themes such as sustainability, responsibility, innovation, and community appearing across many contributions.
For HRC Culinary Academy, the answer was expressed in three words: Care. Respect. Traditions.

These words are not abstract concepts for us. They are practical principles that shape how we teach, how we work with students, and how we prepare them for real careers in hospitality.

Care
Care is at the center of everything we do in culinary education.
It starts with people. Our students come from different countries, backgrounds, and levels of experience, and we see it as our responsibility to guide them through a demanding but supportive learning journey. Care in this context means structured mentoring, clear feedback, and creating an environment where students can develop confidence alongside technical skill.
Care also extends to the kitchen itself. Students are taught to treat ingredients with attention and responsibility, understanding that good cooking depends not only on technique but also on how thoughtfully raw materials are used. Waste reduction, discipline in preparation, and respect for product quality are all part of this mindset.
Finally, care is reflected in the way students learn to approach guests and service. Whether in training or during real service in our restaurant, they understand that hospitality begins with attention to detail and genuine consideration for the experience of others.

Respect
Respect is a foundation of professional life in the kitchen.
We place strong emphasis on developing an understanding of the culinary profession beyond its creative aspects. This includes discipline, reliability, teamwork, communication, and the ability to perform consistently under pressure.
Respect also means recognising the value of every role in the kitchen. From students to instructors to service teams, each person contributes to the final result. Learning to function as part of a team, to follow structure, and to support others is a key part of the training process.
At the same time, respect extends beyond the kitchen environment. It includes respect for ingredients, suppliers, and the cultural context of food. It also includes respect for oneself as a professional, building habits and standards that support long-term career growth.
In an international academy, respect also takes on a cultural dimension. With students from many different countries, we encourage openness, curiosity, and professionalism in how people work and learn together.

Traditions
Culinary education continues to evolve, but traditions remain an essential reference point.
We believe that strong chefs are built on strong foundations. Understanding classical techniques, traditional dishes, and the cultural meaning behind food is essential before innovation can take place in a meaningful way.
Being based in Bulgaria gives us a natural connection to local culinary heritage. We use this as an opportunity for students to explore regional products, recipes, and food customs that they may not encounter elsewhere. At the same time, our international environment allows these traditions to be shared and compared with those from other countries, enriching the learning experience.
Traditions are not something static. They are living knowledge that continues to evolve, but only when they are properly understood and respected.

Part of a Global Culinary Community
As a Worldchefs Education Partner, HRC Culinary Academy is proud to be part of a global network dedicated to advancing culinary education and professional standards.
We are also proud to have 4 Worldchefs-certified educators within our team: Chef Viktor Svetoslavov, Chef Viktorija Baltutyte, Chef Yovelina Minkova, Chef Petya Tsankova.
In addition, our students complete the Worldchefs Sustainability Education for Culinary Professionals module, which provides practical knowledge in sustainable kitchen practices, responsible sourcing, and waste reduction.
Participating in the Worldchefs “Word of the Moment” initiative was a meaningful reminder that while the culinary world continues to evolve, certain values remain constant. At HRC Culinary Academy, Care, Respect, and Traditions continue to guide our work every day, shaping not only how we teach, but also how our students grow into future professionals.
