Culinary Trail project – October 2024 Update

Our 2nd Steering Committee Meeting (SCOM), held on October 9th-10th in Craiova, Romania

28/10/2024

October was an exciting month for the “Culinary Trail” project, as we took important steps toward preserving and sharing the incredible ethnic and local culinary heritage of the Danube Region.

Our 2nd Steering Committee Meeting (SCOM), held on October 9th-10th in Craiova, Romania, brought together representatives from 17 project partners.

The enthusiasm in the room was clear as we exchanged ideas and charted our next moves. We focused on finalizing the digital catalogue tool, which will soon bring the region’s rich culinary history to life through a dedicated mobile app. Even more exciting, we officially kicked off the collection of 700 traditional recipes from various ethnic groups across the region—each one a treasure with its own story.

Our work to shape a transnational strategy for protecting these culinary traditions is also well underway, thanks to the enthusiastic collaboration of all our partners.

Meanwhile, brand development workshops helped us refine the Culinary Trail’s identity, ensuring we have a strong and memorable presence as we introduce this cultural gem to a wider audience.

At the core of our mission is the collection of these unique recipes, many of which have been lovingly passed down through generations. They reflect not just the flavors but the deep cultural roots and vibrant stories of the Danube’s diverse ethnic communities. Preserving this legacy is about more than food—it’s about honoring traditions and bringing people closer to the region’s heart and soul.

As we continue, we’re eager to keep sharing the journey with you, from recipe collections to the development of our digital tools.

Stay tuned for more updates as we celebrate and safeguard the Danube Region’s culinary heritage.
