We are proud to announce that we recently had the honor of hosting world-renowned Certified MasterChef Daryl Shular in Bulgaria for a series of exclusive culinary events.
On October 8th, Chef Shular conducted two exceptional masterclasses and culinary demonstrations. These sessions were attended by our current students and graduates, as well as culinary students from local professional high schools, restaurant owners, culinary bloggers, and other enthusiasts from the food industry. During these sessions, Chef Shular shared his in-depth expertise on the versatility, sustainability, and premium quality of American products, with a particular focus on American beef.
Chef Shular’s presentations covered a wide array of topics related to American beef, including its distinct attributes and the processes involved in cattle rearing. Participants were able to learn about the grading system, marbling characteristics, various cutting techniques, aging processes, and optimal cooking methods.
We were also privileged to welcome U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria, Kenneth Merten, who attended the second session of the event. Ambassador Merten delivered an inspiring address to our students, highlighting the importance of the culinary arts. Another distinguished guest, USDA Counselor Levin Flake, provided an insightful overview of U.S. agricultural practices, focusing on food ingredients and their role in the global culinary landscape.
The culmination of these events was a spectacular themed dinner held in Talents restaurant. Chef Shular designed an exquisite five-course menu themed “Modern Southern American Cuisine,” providing attendees with a unique opportunity to experience a diverse range of flavors and culinary traditions from the U.S. The dinner was attended by the Deputy Chief of Mission and other esteemed guests, making it a truly memorable evening.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the American Culinary Federation (ACF) for their invaluable support in making these events possible. We also wish to thank U.S. Meat, U.S. Beef, and Rois for providing the exceptional products used throughout the masterclasses and the themed dinner.
This event was a testament to our ongoing commitment to fostering culinary excellence and providing our students with unparalleled learning opportunities. Hosting Chef Daryl Shular, along with the esteemed representatives from the U.S., has been an invaluable experience for our culinary community, one that we believe will inspire and elevate the next generation of chefs.
