Celebrating 50 Years of Culinary Excellence

JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs' Golden Jubileе

In the heart of Paris, where the journey of culinary excellence began half a century ago, the International Culinary Association JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs recently marked its golden jubilee with a grand celebration. The JRE 50 Years Congress, held on April 7th and 8th, 2024, brought together over 500 participants, including renowned chefs, sommeliers, international partners, and representatives from the gastronomy world, to commemorate five decades of dedication to fine dining and gastronomic innovation.

Reflecting on the theme of “Never-ending Passion,” the Congress served as a platform for participants to exchange experiences and engage in discussions about the future of fine dining, sustainable business growth, and the impact of global digitalization on the culinary industry. With over 180 Michelin stars represented by 400 JRE chefs and sommeliers from 16 countries, the event showcased the rich tapestry of European gastronomy while embracing innovation, tradition, and cultural diversity.

The exquisite culinary experience unfolded with a Gala dinner prepared by five JRE chefs, each renowned for their culinary expertise. During the dinner, the JRE 2024 Awards were handed in, recognising outstanding individuals within the JRE community across six categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Chef of the Year, and Sommelier of the Year, among others.

On the second day of the event, the Chef 2 Chef Summit offered a platform for masterclasses, demos, wine tastings, and the showcase of culinary trends and leading producers. Bulgaria presented itself with its own stand, where visitors had the opportunity to get to know and taste Bulgarian products of the highest class: fermentation products, luxury chocolates, authentic sauces, chilli paste, salamurika and lutenitsa, rose jam and aromatic teas, special cookies, as well as the big surprise for all chefs – the Bulgarian saffron, which is ranked in a leading position in terms of quality in the world. HRC Culinary Academy, which sends its students to internships in JRE’s restaurants, also attended the stand.

“The JRE 50 Years Congress was a celebration of our shared passion for fine dining and culinary innovation.”  Hans van Manen, JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs CEO

Bulgaria became a member of the association on January 1, 2024, with three restaurants, as JRE’s focus is on implementing high standards on the Bulgarian culinary scene and welcoming more restaurants in the future.
