Barbara Luraschi, aka Sweet Janis, was born and lives in Como, Italy. She discovered her passion for sugar art about 9 years ago, her creations are in pastel colors and modeling is what she loves the most. Her work has been featured in many international magazines, she travels the world mainly teaching face-to-face modeling classes. She is also an online guest teacher at Pretty Witty Cakes.
She was awarded gold medal at London Cake International in March 2015 and Birmingham Cake International in November 2015 and was a finalist in the Cake Masters Modeling Excellence Awards in November 2015. One of the collaborations she is involved in brings together bakers from around the world in the cause of protection of endangered species and Barbara creates a life-size parrot figure. She won Gold at the International Salon Culinaire – London in March 2023.
Barbara has been a demonstrator and teacher at the Cake International show in Birmingham and London (UK). She has also been an instructor at Americas Cake Fair in Orlando (USA), at SOFLO in Miami (USA), at Queensland Cake Expo in Brisbane (Australia), at Cake Expo Ices in Nevada (USA), at Cake Expo ICES in Texas (USA).
