HRC Academy at an International Culinary Championship in Spain

It is the second time for HRC Culinary Academy at International University College to be represented by a team at the Annual International Student Tapas Competition in Valladolid, Spain. The contest, now in its third year is part of the Spanish National Tapas competition, event gathering together more than 60 chefs from around Spain. In the student section of the contest accredited culinary schools from all over the world compete for the chance to be among the 15 schools accepted for the final in Valladolid.
The final stage of the championship has just started today and will last 3 days before announcing the 2011 winner. The Annual International Student Tapas Competition aims to showcase students’ cooking talent on an individual basis and was open to all students of international culinary schools around the world.
The challenge for the participants includes:
- Creating an unique Tapa which draws influence from their local culture with a Spanish twist using both local and Spanish produce in the preliminary stage of the competition
- Writing a personal essay describing their recipe and their professional career goals
The students will be judged by a select panel of national and international judges. The jury will evaluate each entry based on their culinary techniques, presentation, originality, their use of national and Spanish ingredients, value for money and their tapa concept. The HRC Culinary Academy student Anna Pavlova in her third semester of studies will represent our school in a team with chef Eduardo Cortes, chef-instructor at the Academy.
